Electronic Variable Technologies S.L. (EVT) was established in Barcelona as spin-off company from the Fundació Privada Centre CIM. EVT was created to develop and market the technology of the patent PCT200500075.

This technology consists of a novel topology for multi mode continuously variable transmissions (CVT), based around sets of planetary gearboxes and small motors. This configuration provides a smooth transition during control of speed ratio between input and output. Given its predominantly mechanical features -this system avoids using friction or hydraulics- the transmission provides a high-performance with no limits for torque transmission. Their unique characteristics provide a technological advantage in the market.

This technology can be applied whenever control of speed between input and output is required, including potential applications for industrial vehicles, wind turbines, and conventional and multi hybrid cars of the future.
